It’s about time that a large public organisation spoke out fearlessly with regards to this issue.
There are FAR too many Pit Bulls and their mixes; most people do not WANT them, and they do NOT want to go to a Shelter to adopt a needy dog and be presented with row upon row of unknowable, potentially highly dangerous Pit Bulls. Hell, we ALL know Shelters LIE. Chances are high that you are taking home a dog or cat killer, or worse. MUCH worse.
Huff is none too happy about this – remarkably, they have shot themselves in both feet by citing the deceptive hate blog ‘Zombies and Dogs’ as a reputable source – claiming that the authoress’s personally abusive and chillingly inaccurate and ugly ‘revelations’ about those of us in the Victims Advocacy are somehow reliable and proof that we have a hate-driven agenda intent on killing all Pit Bulls. It leaves one unsure whether to laugh or cry. NO-ONE is more responsible for the deaths of Pit Bulls than the Pit Bull advocates and owners themselves, with their refusal to spay/neuter, their looking away from home-breeders, their endless push to adopt, adopt, adopt more and more Pit Bulls, and of course to push OTHER dog breeds under the bus by whining that ‘all dogs can attack, so all dogs should receive the same legislations’. Grossly untrue and yet more subterfuge and obfuscation techniques designed to deflect everyone away from a darker truth. When it is one breed of dog that is doing the vast majority of damage, and when it is one breed of dog that is clogging up the Shelters AND being abused as well, then it absolutely behests decent society and the law-makers to apply SPECIFIC legislations to such a wretched breed.
Pit Bull promoters like Huff COST the lives of hundreds of thousands of Pit Bulls yearly – rather than tackling the problems around Pit Bulls with honesty and farsightedness, they prefer instead to run articles PROMOTING the dogs as being Nanny dogs and wonderful around children, in spite of the absolute TRUTH of the matter which is that Pit Bulls KILL more children per annum than all other dog breeds and types combined. Year after year after year.
Dunderheads that read such nonsense and fall for such lies are likely to go full steam ahead into their local Shelter and adopt an unknowable, second-hand Pit Bull dog to ‘nanny’ their innocent children. The Pit Bull problem cannot be solved by ADOPTING Pit Bulls. Many many Pit Bull owners are entering into ownership of multiple Pit Bulls, rather than see them euthanised, and RATHER THAN WORK HARD TO GET PIT BULLS MANDATORILY SPAY/NEUTERED. That which has never been born, cannot suffer and die! And cannot clog up the Shelters and Rescues! And also, of course, cannot commit grotesque acts of violence often ending in death or lifelong disfigurement for their unhappy victims.
I don’t understand how ANYONE can take Huff seriously, not unless one is a Pit Bull owner or protectionist – whatever vague interest I had in Huff dissipated completely when I saw their article promoting the magic of Pit Bulls and children together…. and what did we see amidst the hundreds of terrifying photographs of harmless children arranged around the meaty faces of the number one canine child killer ever? Ah yes – a photograph of Nephi Selu with his arms around the head of a large unlikely-looking ‘Nanny dog’ Pit Bull.
Shortly after that picture was taken in 2013, Nephi Selu was chomped in the head by his alleged best friend and ‘Nanny Dog’ Pit Bull, and died. Problems with credibility, Huff? Yes, yes you do, as does the bizarre Hater Blog that specifically targets victims of violence and the bereaved that you have cited as ‘credible’ too.
Hopefully others will follow PETA now. It HAS to happen. This situation cannot continue, not unless society has reached the alarming point where hundreds of thousands of tons of unwanted Pit Bulldog meat leaving Shelters annually in black plastic sacks, and the incredibly revelatory annual death toll among humans and other creatures brought about BY those Pit Bulldogs, has become somehow acceptable and a modern ‘norm’.
The pendulum must shiver and stop, and then swing another way. For the sake of innocent lives, and I include Pit Bulls in that sentiment. THEY are victims too.”

‘MANY, MANY Pit Bull owners are entering into ownership of multiple Pit Bulls, rather than see them euthanised….and rather than work hard to get them mandatorily spay/neutered.” How “many, many” pit owners do you know, have you interviewed re: this, stats??? Many, many anti pit people make up statements to justify their cause. BTW…most shelters that adopt out dogs require spay/neutering before adoption….this is not a made up statement.

Because of the domain name, I would see this as a credible site. If I didn’t know any better
I would look at the information on this page as see the Pit Bull as an appropriate dog for
my child or elderly parent, especially after reading the comments.
It would be interesting to find out who is behind the website
because it shares some responsibility for placing dangerous dogs in homes.
I am SOOO sick of animal shelters trying to force pit bulls on to people. A local no-kill shelter in my area just announced they are waiving their $100 fee for people who adopt pit bulls (they actually admit because their shelter is full of pit bulls that nobody wants to adopt.) So, people with lower income, ie elderly and families with small children, may be especially tempted by this offer to get a free dog, and these are the people who are especially at danger from pit bulls. Especially dangerous since shelters have no issues with “rehabilitating” dogs that have a history of biting and adopting them out to people without disclosing the dogs bite history (I had *TWO* friends this happened to, their children ended up bitten by the adopted dog who had a history of biting….that wasn’t disclosed to them until after their child was bitten.) I used to be very pro-animal shelters, but no longer support “no-kill” shelters, which exist by foisting dangerous dogs onto unsuspecting people.
You are so right IP. The lower income folks are the most vulnerable to the Pit pushers. They are unsuspecting victims that our society ends up paying the medical bills because they bought into the Pit pushers. The no-kill shelters are only ending up as Animal warehouses that is not aligned with treating any animal humanely.
The dirty machine behind the Huffington Post pit bull lobbying is the AKC which has political connections to those that own and run HuffPo. Which also has political connections to Jane Saul Berkey’s politico and hardcore political lobbyist brother, Andrew Saul.
Breeders oppose spay neuter laws because they don’t want to get licensed, they don’t want to pay taxes, and because they seek to protect the puppy mills that prop them up with registration money. They also want to support their dog fighting cousins, which they have been lobbying with for years to oppose regulations like spay neuter laws and anti-chaining laws
Huffington Post is one of the faces of the wealthy corporate breeding machine that has been feasting off the public’s dying carcass for a long time
The Huffington Post uses pit bulls in tutus and No Kill scams as EMOTIONAL MANIPULATORS AND PROPAGANDA to entice the truly moronic to help out and support the breeders and dog fighters
Thank You for sharing this information. It is up to victims to share their tragic stories to bring awareness to the dangers of owning these dangerous breeds. I will never forget reading the story about your loss of Daxton which could have been prevented. I’m not always a fan of what some people use social media for but this is an excellent platform to share our stories. Thank God we have social media network because the bleeding heart networks in the US refuse to tell the truth and are constantly pushing these monsters on unsuspecting, well intended people who might ignore these facts until it hits home.
