This list is meant to assist potential dog owners in quickly determining which breeds may be suitable candidates for their families. Additional research should be done for making a final decision on breed selection. Daxton’s Friends for Canine Education and Awareness has compiled a list from the American Kennel Club (AKC) most registered dog breeds for 2012. Since the AKC requires registration paperwork to be submitted by breeders/owners to be included in their number calculations, this list may not be completely accurate to the current United States dog population. Daxton’s Friends believes that there is a high likelihood that potential owners will come into contact with these breeds and this list will be a good starting point in their research process.
